The thin nylon socks I use are found at Wal-mart, three for 3 bucks. I cut them so I can
make two or three nut covers out of them.
I cut a hole big enough to slide my tool through
and make this hole about an inch below the
edge of the sock. Then I put the cover on so that i have to pull the nuts through. Then I put
a split collar on, just one. You can use the steel
or delrin kind. then I start putting rings on. Six or
seven is all i can manage at the moment. Then
i take another sock and pull it over everything.
I'm toying with the idea of being able to have
some kind of a strap that would tie around the
body so that you never had the problem of the
rings dropping off. Another alternative after you add several rings, you add another split collar
below so you'd have a split collar, a number of
rings, and another split collar. Always carry your
allen wrench with you though. TJ, I like your
idea of using silk. I may look for some silk socks.
