Nurse's "vitriolic" comments? I think these
folks deserved it. I don't see where you get
off saying that Nurse put "disproportionate
energy" into criticizing this person's spelling.
I looked at the post, and very little of it
deals with spelling. I also looked at the
original post, and I think it's reasonable to
say that an educated person should know how to
spell better than this. You're really going to
extremes to say that Nurse is "hell bent" on
connecting bad spelling with low intelligence.
You go on to use a false analogy of Einstein,
when Einstein in fact was quite literate. You
even throw in an inappropriate ad hominem
argument about Nurse's educational achievement
which you don't really know anything about.
In a further post, you go on to talk about
us not being able to define intelligence, yet
you say that spelling is not related to
intelligence. So if you can't define it, then
how can *you* say that intelligence is *not*
related to language skills? And if you can't
measure intelligence, then how can you say
that your students possess "magnificent
intellects"? I think you're just a college
student pretending to be a professor. I hope
you aren't really teaching philosophy, because
that would be a case of the blind leading the
blind.

Your poorly reasoned arguments remind me of
another person who has posted here before:
Brad. He had the same superficial tone and
the same college student focus that you bring
to this posting. I also think you're one of
the people who posted earlier in this thread
and Nurse's professional advice and common
sense miffed you, so now you're trying to
insult him (or is it her?) for telling you
the truth. You got some professional advice
for free. Don't be stupid. Take your lumps
and learn something. By the way, if your
spelling is so bad that you can't effectively
communicate with anyone anymore, then can you
really call yourself educated? I don't think
so.

Why the hell don't you overly-sensitive people
learn how to roll with the punches. If you do
stupid things then brag about them, and if you
spell so poorly you look like a fool, then why
should you expect anyone to take you seriously?
Like Nurse said: a little knowledge is a
dangerous thing. That applies to
pseudophilosophers as well as to foolish
people who inject saline into their bodies.

Like "Dogger", this is all I have to say.
I don't expect a reply and I won't respond.
I sent this reply more so other readers could
see through your shallow arguments than to
carry on a duel of wits with an unarmed
opponent.
