In answer to your questions:
1) I've been stretching for a couple years now, more frequently and seriously for the past year
2) I think it was about what you started with, probably a two inch leather stretcher
3) I hang the 20 pound weight from my balls for a total of roughly an hour a day, broken into three or four 20-minute sessions with brief breaks between to maintain good circulation. If I have time, I may follow that with the same amount of time in my three leather stretchers that total about 8 inches of stretch.
4) I've never tried steel rings. I've had good results over time with the combination of weights and leather stretchers.
Overall, I'd suggest you keep moving up somewhat gradually. I've set a goal for myself to reach at least a 12 inch sack stretch, but I know it will mean stretching every day and seeing gradual progress. Don't hurt yourself! The eventual results are worth it-- truly low hangers! Hope this is helpful.
