I don't use any of the commercially available weights sold at the leather shops because they are a rip off. I think they just take advantage of us. Instead I shop the hardware stores and the odd lot stores along Canal Street in NYC (every city of any size has such a place where you can buy odd bits and pieces). For instance I came across a box of sledge hammer heads at one store and picked up a 4 lb and a 3 lb head. With a piece of rope and a snap hook I can hang one or both on my 4" leather sretcher. I also found a box full of 2.75 lb barbell weights. I bought a bunch and rigged up a holder with a big eye bolt and some large washers and I can hang one or more weights with a snap hook. If all else fails, head to Home Depot. There's LOTS of possibilities in those aisles! There's also the old standby of the gallon jug filled with water. Don't laugh! It works! Email me for photos of my well stretched nutz. I have no idea how to post photos on this forum.
