Bag balm is recommended for long distance cycling to prevent chafing. It is recommended over vaseline as the latter will eventually cause the breakdown of the synthetic material in cycling shorts. I noticed taht a chief ingredient of Bag Balm is petrolatum. Isn't this a petroleum based product? What effect will this have on the material of cycling shorts?
