If you're stuck and need to blow out, you should stop using that tube. Either switch to a larger tube of stop period.
When my largest 2-stage (4x6) gets too hard to get out of, I switch to my monster tube. With a hinged split flange, there is never a problem getting out of that. Have gotten an big as 21" in that.
For strapping off after a good pump, I use a small leather dog collar. $2.95 at supermarket.
