2.25" might be a bit narrow for ballpumping. You'll get more expansion (and less of that 'compressed' feeling) if you use a bigger tube.
Personally I use a 3.25" tube for both cock and balls and i get good size in it. It's a good way to stretch the sac, too. I think a 3" tube would be fine.
