I've only been doing this for about two months, but I do notice the phenomena that you are discussing. I would offer you the limited wisdom of my own limited experience, which is to say that the first area to show increase is the area conecting the head and the shaft, and that the shaft does begin to develop from that point down to the base. I am quite certain that this is a very individual process. I hope that you find your answere.
