i find it easier to put the ring on after pumping. i'm sure there are some guys who wear it insiide, but that seems strange. wouldn't it impede circulation? also, i would be afraid that it would leave a mark or something.
so after a pumping session of 30 to 45 minutes, while my cock is still lubed, i slip the ring on and then wash the lube off with hot water. (i use a shaft ring, not the balls included ring.)
