Well if you are using Netscape, you go to Preferences
under the Edit menue, then you go to Advanced and just
click em off. I turned off Java while I was at it, it just
slows things down and the only thing I've ever seen it used
for is bullshit advertising - there's enough of that on the
web as it is.
