This may sound strange, but if all else fails, try looking for Bag Balm in your local fabric store. It's one of the few products that helps people who handle fabric to keep their hands from cracking and bleeding. New fabric contains formaldehyde which is used as both a stabalizer and preservative when stored in warehouses. It's probably the worst thing you can come in contact with and really dries out your skin. (thus the reason you should always wash new articles of clothing prior to wearing.) Most Hancock/Northwest/Minnesota Fabric stores and some JoAnn's carry it.
