A while back a poster named unique mentioned split rings. If he is still around I would appeciate him letting us know if he still has a source for the stainless steel
rings. I did find another source but the stainless steel
rings don't appear to be as smoothly made ( you'll have to have a polishing lathe availible). I'll pass along
what I have found. In Graingers Catolog 389 on page
352, three types of split rings are offered. In different
sizes but here I"ll list the 1 1/2 inch ones
Pressed steel for around$8.oo, Stainless for $20 and
Delrin for $10. Graingers has a website at
www.grainger.com The problem with Graingers is
you need to have a business license to do business.
However, the Delrin (a white plastic) are great.
They don't have the weight of the steel ones but are
good for stretching and you can put steel rings on in
between a couple of them. I use a modified thin
nylon sock to place between the skin and the rings.Pinching is cut way down and eliminated and
the rings can be worn comfortably for hours. I tried
steel rings by themselves and they'd generally fall off
but the split collars, if bought in a combination of
Delrin and stainless or the pressed steel types can be
mixed and provide both the weight and stretch you can handle.
